Brands are loosely ... groping

They want to meet growing consumer demand. But they are struggling to find a profitable economic model using a distribution method that is difficult to manage.


Panzani, Kellogg's, Benenuts, Carte Noire, Ebly, Uncle Bens, Winged Bull… For more than four months, regulars in four Franprix stores in the Paris region have been able to buy everyday products from major brands… in bulk.

A small revolution for the latter, more accustomed to handling huge volumes, in packages extensively extolling the advantages of their products.

The attempt is unprecedented in this market which has developed in recent years without the giants of mass consumption, and mainly in organic or specialized stores (Biocoop, Day by Day, etc.).

But aware of the attractiveness of consumers for this mode of distribution and their desire to reduce the environmental impact of the products they consume, the big brands are also gradually moving into bulk, in generalist brands like Franprix, or on networks specializing in sales without packaging.
