As-Suwayda-Sana
The total harvested areas of field crops in As-Suwayda since the beginning of the harvest operations amounted to 85,260 dunums, out of the total harvestable areas, which amounted to 450,720 dunums, with an implementation rate of 19 percent.
The Director of Agriculture in As-Suwayda, Engineer Ayham Hamed, said in a statement to SANA reporter today that the harvesting operations include wheat, barley, chickpeas, lentils, vetch, galbanum and karana, and ends for some crops during the current month, while some crops continue until the middle or end of next month.
Engineer Hamed pointed out that the harvesting of various field crops in the governorate is carried out manually, with the exception of wheat areas where the plant lengths are good, so they are harvested through combines, pointing out that the directorate continues to grant certificates of origin to farmers to market the wheat crop to the grain receiving center.
The Director of Agriculture added that field crops in As-Suwayda were generally affected this year by drought, as most of them are sown with rain, which will affect their productivity.
