Imagination and the humanization of beings are central to new stories in the Childhood Library series

The Childhood Library series, launched by the Child Publications Directorate in the Syrian General Book Authority since 2015, continues to present tales for young people by Syrian and foreign writers, most of which address the child’s imagination and stimulate him through the humanization of objects, while others sculpt the real world of youngsters with the opportunity for the child to color the accompanying drawings.

The story “A friend who is not afraid of anyone,” translated by Dr. Thaer Zain Al-Din and drawn by Ramiz Haj Hussein, carried an amusing meaning about a fierce and intelligent dog that tries the friendship of all forest animals, but finds it fears larger beings than it, to discover in the end that man is the best friend who can live next to him.

The story “The Ant and the Cockroach” written by the French, Pape Betty, translated into Arabic by Salam Eid and illustrated by Doaa Al-Zuhairi, presents a serious vision of the famous La Fontaine tale. To spend the cold days before the return of spring.

The childhood library also introduced us to Boris Zakhoder, one of the most famous Russian children’s poets and writers, through the story “Rosachuk”, which was translated by Dr. Hashem Hammadi and illustrated by Muhammad Mardini. It tells about the little rabbit Rosachuk, who is surprised by the transformation of his tadpole friend into a frog, so he wants to turn like him into another animal to find after He searched for a long time that he had become a big, beautiful rabbit, so he gave up the idea of ​​transforming.

We find in the story “For My Sister’s sake” the story of Dima Ibrahim and the drawings of Ramez Haj Hussein, focusing on the value of brotherhood and introducing children to its sublime feelings, the value of sacrifice and the importance of giving back.

And about the “Twelve Chinese Zodiacs,” the story, which was translated by a writer and drawn by Doaa Al-Zuhairi, talked about the zodiacs in China, which are associated with the names of mythical creatures such as the dragon and useful creatures such as the dog and the horse, their meanings and the reason for their inception.

As for the story “Sadok” written by Salwa Asaad and illustrated by Abdel Wahab Al-Rajoulah, it talked about the importance of water in preserving life.
