Naftali Bennett, the leader of the far-right Yamina party, will lead the government for the first two years before handing over to centrist Yair Lapid for an equivalent period, under a rotation agreement.

After the last legislative elections in March, the opposition gradually united against Benyamin Netanyahu and - an extremely rare event in Israeli history - rallied the Arab Israeli formation Raam, led by the Islamist Mansour Abbas.
The government will work for “
the whole
” of the Israeli population including the Arab minority, but also the ultra-Orthodox Jews who have no elected members in this coalition, Naftali Bennett said in a speech constantly interrupted by supporters of Benjamin Netanyahu.
Status quo in the conflict with the Palestinians, economic recovery, place of religion: everything on paper divides the anti-Netanyahu coalition apart from its desire to bring down the prime minister.

On foreign policy, he kept the same tone as the outgoing Prime Minister on the nuclear issue of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Israel's sworn enemy. The new coalition "
will not let Iran acquire nuclear weapons,
" warned Naftali Bennett. But Benjamin Netanyahu reacted by accusing the next government of "
being weak
" in the face of the "
threat
" from Iran.
And as soon as she takes office, she will face pressing challenges such as the march planned for Tuesday by the Israeli far right in East Jerusalem, a Palestinian sector occupied by Israel.
The Islamist movement Hamas, in power in the Israeli-blockaded Palestinian enclave of Gaza, threatened retaliation if the march was held near the Mosques plaza.
As for Benjamin Netanyahu, he may also have to face, in addition to his trial, a wave of protest within his party, the Likud, elected officials already seeking to turn the Netanyahu page internally.
