The new government, led by Naftali Bennett, will be sworn in today, which means, among other things, that after more than a decade in which the Netanyahu family inhabited the official residence of the Israeli prime minister located on Balfour Street in Jerusalem, a very different relative is expected to enter. Although Naftali and Gilat Bennett have already announced that they do not intend to move regularly to the Prime Minister's Residence, because they have young children who are in educational settings in the city of Raanana, they will stay there from time to time as a family - especially on weekends and events, and of course Prime Minister.

We all remember the videos on social media taken by Nicole Reidman and Moshik Glamin who toured the Prime Minister's residence and exposed him in his misery, on its peeling walls, yellowing carpets and crumbling kitchens that are on the building's living floor.

Also on the "official" floor of the residence it has been some time since someone did some refreshing to the design style and it could be that the upcoming change of government is an opportunity to make aesthetic changes as well (or in other words: renovation).

The couple Naftali and Gilat Bennett have 4 children aged 9, 12, 14 and 16, a family car that is already challenging the conditions in Balfour - never lived in a prime minister's residence with four young children, and certainly dictates very different residential needs compared to their predecessors.

So we turned to three well-known and leading Israeli interior designers to ask them what is the most urgent change in Balfour, and what is the chance that we will see extensive renovation there?

Barbara Berzin, an interior designer and owner of a high school for interior design studies in Tel Aviv, welcomes the Bennett family and still does not have high hopes that the maintenance and design of the house will change significantly due to the move: "As long as 'Almog Project', the official prime minister's residence near Kiryat "The government is still in force, it does not seem that the residence in Balfour will undergo any real change," she says pessimistically.

Old-fashioned look.

At least the yard looks in good condition.

"Yes, I would recommend a real facelift, as each and every one of us would do if they were to move into a house where another family lived for more than 12 years. This is a living, dynamic, vibrant and creative home, one that will put a smile on their faces, by combining personal items (or ones that suit their taste) within the classic and formal furniture set that is required there. "

The flooring is fine, but what about the rugs?

Shirley Dan, owner of an architecture and interior design studio specializing in luxury residences, recommends that those responsible for the design and maintenance of the Prime Minister's Residence pay attention to the needs, desires and desires of the Bennett couple and especially their children: "For the first time in Israel Under the age of 18 and this unique figure should be given a real answer. At this point it seems that the family members will spend time in the home only on weekends and still, young guys also deserve to feel comfortable in the old and tied home.It is a great opportunity to make a real change, even if only cosmetic and combine on the living floor "There they will spend the rest days in the family, objects and furniture details that will make them feel at home, walk comfortably and recharge batteries. From many years of experience, children's energies heal and grow and proper planning and interior design has the power to produce it," she says.

According to interior designer Keren Gens, "From the photos and videos that have flowed from the prime minister's residence in recent years, it appears that the private kitchen, the one on the living floor, is in a dilapidated and almost unusable state. This is important, especially when it comes to a dynamic and young family. Procedural and bureaucratic constraints may prevent replacing the kitchen but also replacing work surfaces, painting walls and cabinet fronts, combining vegetation and even second hand items will give the kitchen a fresh and warm and inviting look and make it an integral part. .
