The reason: More staff is needed than originally thought.

In the case of the latter, the committee now had to go one step further.
Tobias Riesch, executive officer, explained the background to this in the most recent meeting.
Riesch explained that there has been an increased need for staff since the budget was adopted.
“One employee has interrupted her parental leave and is currently working eight hours in the building department.
This relieved the burden, as a position in the building department had to be filled and was temporarily unoccupied, ”said Riesch.
A former employee who is actually retired works 4.5 hours a week in the Technical Building Authority.
With his knowledge, which comes from his many years of activity, he supports the community in ongoing projects - for example in the water supply, said the manager.
The need for kindergarten places is increasing due to the pandemic
The largest increase in jobs is in the day care center in Wegscheid. The problem: Because of the corona pandemic and the associated homeschooling, many parents are postponing their child's schooling by a year. This means that the need for kindergarten places is increasing. At the same time, registrations for the cribs would decrease, said Riesch. In Wegscheid, therefore, an application was made to convert a crèche into a kindergarten group. But that is not enough to meet the demand. Because although all the places in all three municipal day-care centers except for a few emergency places have been filled, "there is still a need for around 30 kindergarten children," said Riesch.
Fortunately, the community receives support in this area from the head of the primary school, Ursula Neff. "This means that a room that has been used by the school up to now can temporarily be used as an additional group room," explained Riesch. However, additional staff is required for this additional offer and the more heavily booked groups. Two teachers, two nannies and one assistant have to be hired.
In general, however, it has been shown that it is “becoming more and more difficult to find suitable staff, especially in the area of kindergartens.
As in the past few years, the community would therefore like to consistently offer apprenticeships, ”said Riesch.
In addition to the two internship positions in the St. Josef and St. Antonius day-care centers, an internship position in the St. Jakobus kindergarten is also to be created.
More cleaners needed
There is also a greater need for cleaning staff - especially to relieve the current ones.
Since, among other things, there is a higher need for cleaning due to the heavy excursion traffic, a minor and a short-term minor position for the toilet facility have been created in Fall.
After an advertisement, "unfortunately there are still no applications," said Riesch.
In addition, there are still some higher groupings in the tourist information and in the building authority.
However, the actual numerical part of the budget does not have to be adjusted.
“Counter-financing for the additional positions is possible because full-time positions in the building department, in the tax office and in the finance department are not occupied all year round due to personnel changes.
Likewise, several employees who have been ill for a longer period of time do not have to pay any wages for several months, ”said Riesch.
This could cover the additional expense.
The supplementary budget with the changed establishment plan was decided unanimously by the municipal council.
