In the area of the Geretsried police station, the citizens have nothing to worry about.

That emerges from the safety report for the past year.

The corona pandemic is also noticeable in the statistics.

  • The Geretsried police presented the 2020 security report for their area of responsibility

  • The good news: Citizens in the service area have nothing to worry about

  • But: with 160 drug offenses, there were 60 more than in the previous year

Geretsried - The corona pandemic also has its good side.

Last year there was less property and street crime in the area of the Geretsried police station, which is also responsible for Dietramszell and Königsdorf.

The officials see a direct connection with the measures to contain the infection, i.e. the temporarily closed retail trade and the restrictions on nightlife.

158 street crime cases

Expressed in numbers, there were 158 cases of street crime, such as vandalism, in 2020 (2019: 188).

The police registered theft and the like 245 times (2019: 245), according to the 2020 security report. Based on this, the police gave the mayors of Geretsried, Dietramszell and Königsdorf an overview of the general security situation in their communities.

“From our point of view, there is nothing worrying about it,” sums up Inspection Manager Franz Schöttl.

Gained an overview of the security situation: (from left) Chief Police Inspector Franz Schöttl (Head of the Geretsried Police Department), Josef Hauser (Mayor of the Dietramszell Municipality), Chief Police Inspector Emanuel Luferseder (Deputy Head of Service), Michael Müller (Mayor of the City of Geretsried) , Chief Police Officer Jürgen Geigenfeind (transport worker), Rainer Kopnicky (Mayor of the Königsdorf community) and Chief Police Officer Nektaria Adamidou (security officer and patrol officer).

The Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen district is one of the safest in the area of the Upper Bavaria South Police Headquarters, said Schöttl.

And the department of the Geretsried police is largely unproblematic.

This is shown by the comparatively low frequency, which here is a crime rate of 4005 per 100,000 inhabitants.

Within the service area, the frequency in Königsdorf and Dietramszell is much lower than in Geretsried.

But that is due to the fact that the city is the largest in the district.

"Where more people live and work, more things simply happen that concern the police," said Schöttl.

Around 20 percent fewer traffic accidents

The total number of accidents also influenced the infection control measures.

In view of two lockdowns, home office, exit and contact restrictions, people left their home less often and therefore did not get into the car as often.

However, the 20 percent fewer traffic accidents are "only a positive trend at first glance," says the safety report.

Three motorcyclists suffered fatal injuries in tragic accidents in the Dietramszell area.

According to Schöttl, there was a road fatality in the service area the year before.

The number of accidents with “alternative means of transport”, i.e. e-bikes, pedelecs and e-scooters, has also increased - by a substantial 80 percent.

Safety report in numbers

The Geretsried Police Department, which is also responsible for Dietramszell and Königsdorf, recorded a total of 1,365 crimes in the police crime statistics in 2020 (2019: 1,369). The clearance rate increased from 74.9 to 75.8 percent compared to the previous year. The police identified 823 suspects (2019: 703). Among them were 321 non-German suspects (2019: 245). Over 80 percent of them, i.e. 674 women and men, were 22 years of age or older. Among the suspects were 23 children (up to 13 years), 67 adolescents (up to 18 years) and 59 adolescents (up to 21 years). In 2020 there were 770 traffic accidents in the area of the Geretsried police station (2019: 961). 141 people were injured, three people fatal.

Finally, another increase: with 160 drug offenses, there were 60 more than in the previous year.

The Geretsried police have intensified their work in this area, said Schöttl.

There were several trials last year.

In the two largest cases, the officers confiscated a large amount of marijuana and cocaine as well as a four-digit amount of cash in one apartment and in another around half a kilogram of cannabis products, just under 40 grams of a cocaine-amphetamine mixture, a blank gun and a medium five-digit amount in cash.
