Dietersheim

- Dietersheim has a local association and soon a small chapel with an artistic interior on the edge of the Isar floodplain.

Both are directly related.

On Corpus Christi the association "Kreuzwegkapelle Dietersheim" was founded with 20 committed members in the local citizen hall, including the Dietersheim-based 1st Mayor Sebastian Thaler, who had taken over the election.

The unanimously appointed three-person board consists of chairman Stefan Wagner, who is also the initiator of the chapel project, deputy and secretary Irene Nadler and treasurer Christa Feichtner.

The chapel should be decorated with ornate carpets

The sacred art project with the self-explanatory name "Kreuzwegkapelle", initiated by the Wagner family of architects from Dietersheim, is about creating a storage space for a total of five valuable artistically designed sacred wall tapestries - and thus at the same time a place of reflection and tranquility.

The 20 meter long carpets, which are divided into five individual works, depict Christ's Way of the Cross in 13 stations, a commissioned work for the Benedictine monastery of Saint Mauritius in Tholey in Saarland, the oldest monastery on German soil.

The bible motifs were designed by the artist Mila Wiertz-Getz, who died in 2003, and created by two weavers in a two-year creative process.

Since the 1960s, the carpets have hung in the abbey cathedral for over 30 years.

When a renovation was necessary in the mid-1990s, they were taken out of service and disappeared into oblivion.

They were tracked down by Stefan Wagner, who was a friend of the artist and who was able to acquire the carpets after a few negotiations.

The land for the chapel is owned by the municipality

The intention of the association is to make these art and contemporary testimonies publicly accessible again - in a simple, wooden chapel that is adapted to the environment and that the non-profit association intends to build and maintain. The woven tapestries should only be hung up individually and one after the other. The property for the chapel approved by the municipal council is owned by the municipality and is located on a field path used as a walking and cycling path on the edge of the forest not far from the Isar.

This location invites residents in particular to use the chapel as a destination for excursions or a relaxing break.

The sponsoring association also strives for smaller devotions and meditations as well as music performances.

According to Wagner, the financing is provided by private donors and sponsors, regardless of membership.

The annual fee was set at 20 euros.
