Continuously rising temperatures have pushed up the mercury, especially in the southeast. Hot weather a little earlier than usual

This first weekend of curfew at 11 p.m. has been a lifesaver for a good number of French people, already in search of freshness.

Because it is the particularity of this Sunday, in particular, where the mercury exceeded 30 ° C in several departments.

Some had not seen such heat so early in the year for a long time.

If the symbolic bar of 40 ° C could not be reached, it was however grazed in Cabestany (Pyrénées-Orientales), near Perpignan, with 39.1 ° C according to the weather channel which considers that the tramontane wind made Foehn effect (meteorological phenomenon created by the meeting of atmospheric circulation and relief when a prevailing wind meets a mountain range).

In second position we find, in the same department, Céret with 37.8 ° C, an exceptional temperature for this time of year.

"Before the last ten days of June, only 2003 had reached this level of heat, this is the second value recorded for a month of June, after the 42.4 ° C of June 28, 2019", explains Météo France.

Paris will only reach 30 ° C this Monday, for the first time of the year.

"The average date of the first 30 ° C corresponds to June 16 in the capital," recalls the weather channel.

🌡️37 ° C in the first half of June in #Perpignan, it was still difficult to imagine a few years ago and / or in a climate not so distant, when reaching such a level was anyway rare and, if necessary, was happening in July / August, not June 13!

This should continue on Monday since Météo France expects the sun to reign supreme over the country.

The weather will turn to stormy in the Pyrenees, however, according to forecasts.

At the start of the day, we will observe some coastal mists, or even some low clouds, on the Côte d'Azur, but these small annoyances will quickly disappear.

The heat spreads throughout France

During this new hot day, a stormy degradation will set up over the Pyrenees, causing showers mainly in the afternoon, with in places strong thunderstorms and gusts of wind at 60/80 km / h.

Hail will be possible, particularly on the Ariège.

This unstable weather could overflow, in the afternoon, on the Pyrenean foothills, but also in the Landes plain, even as far as the Gers, with in places some showers which can be accompanied by thunderclaps.
