Zhu Kaidi, a member of the Legislative Council at the time, later reposted it on social platforms.
Mai Meijuan denied making relevant remarks, and later filed a lawsuit against Zhu Kaidi and Huang Weixian for defamation.
Nearly two years later, the two apologized to Mai Meijuan in the newspaper today (14th). Among them, Zhu Kaidi admitted that without verifying Huang's remarks, he forwarded and disseminated false remarks and acted extremely irresponsibly.

The two people’s apology statement was published in today’s "Sing Tao Daily" financial page, in which Huang Weixian said that because of a mistake in memory of Mai Meijuan’s remarks at the inauguration ceremony, he quoted the wrong content to the public and the media, which caused serious damage to Mai Meijuan’s reputation. As a result, Huang Weixian admitted that the practice was inappropriate, and publicly apologized to Mai Meijuan for this.
Zhu Kaidi pointed out that without verifying whether the remarks quoted by Wong Wai-yin are true, he produced images and leaflets on personal social platforms, relayed untrue remarks, and widely published slanderers of Mr. Mak Mei-juan, "I admit to such dissemination. The act of making false statements is extremely irresponsible and has seriously affected the reputation of Mr Mak Mei-juan. I solemnly apologize to her for this."
Zhu Kaidi is currently being remanded in custody for the pro-democracy primary election. He announced earlier that he would disband the "New Territories West Team" and would no longer participate in politics in the future.
