The municipality of Pfaffenhofen and the district of Dachau are negotiating a "deal", according to District Administrator Stefan Löwl. The district is planning the full expansion of the Oberumbach through-town including sidewalk, plus sidewalk and bike path to State Road 2051. After completion of the respective measures, the road construction load is to be transferred to the community.

Oberumbach - The district road DAH 14 runs over 1.4 kilometers from the state road 2051 through Oberumbach to the junction to Stockach. Due to the condition of the Oberumbach through-road, it will have to be renovated or expanded in the medium term, according to the Dachau District Office. The traffic load is so low that the DAH 14 “is a local road in character,” says Torsten Kohlmann, head of civil engineering in the district office. So Kohlmann, District Administrator Stefan Löwl and Pfaffenhofen’s Mayor Helmut Zech sat down, thought about it and came to a solution.

This provides for DAH 14 to be downgraded to a municipal road, for the Oberumbach thoroughfare to be fully developed, including a sidewalk, and for a pedestrian and cycle path to be built between the confluence of State Road 2051 and the Oberumbach exit. The full expansion of the 300-meter-long thoroughfare costs 500,000 euros. The road surface renovation for the remaining 1,100 meters of the district road is currently estimated at around 100,000 euros. The construction of the cycle path, which is also around 1,100 meters long, is estimated at a further 500,000 euros. In addition, there are planning funds amounting to around 100,000 euros, so that the total costs add up to around 1.2 million euros. After completion of the respective measures, the road construction load is to be transferred to the municipality of Pfaffenhofen.

The joint plans of the municipality and district have now been presented to the members of the environment and transport committee and the district committee in the district office for consultation. For the time being, it is only about the planning costs and not a decision per se, emphasized Löwl.

There were various alternatives, said Löwl at the meeting, “but this is the one that is also favored by the community and by us. You do it right once and then give overall responsibility to the municipality. "Regarding the cycle path to State Road 2051, Kohlmann added:" In this area, the municipality is already intensively planning and has also contacted the state building authority about the cycle path to drive forward. "The difficulty is that there is a change of government district to the Aichach / Friedberg district," but Mr. Zech is in contact with the state building authority.

Regarding the reasons why the municipality and the district want to get together, the district administrator said that the district wanted to put together an overall package that could then be handed over to the municipality with a clear conscience. “If everyone were always waiting for the other,” he pointed out, “then things would go slowly. And we think it will work. "

However, there were also concerns about the plans. Arthur Stein (Greens) said: "Municipalities want to be upgraded to a district road so that they can get rid of the maintenance." The district administrator countered that the traffic on DAH 14 "by no means justifies the status of a district road". The deal is that the road will be rehabilitated faster and a cycle path faster, but the municipality will take over “more or less a finished road and then do the maintenance”. Löwl: “The district pretties the bride up for a moment. But then she's gone too! "

Leonhard Mösl (ÖDP) said he had concerns about the construction of the cycle path, thick boards would have to be drilled before it could be built.

In addition, the through-town is not in “such a bad condition.

The question arises as to whether a reasonable ceiling renovation would not suffice ”.

Mösl: "I would say if we do, then we want a pretty bride."

Dachau's Lord Mayor Florian Hartmann also got involved in the discussion: "During the whole discussion, I am already asking myself: Who is the wedding loader here?" Hartmann asked the group: "What investments can we still do in Corona times?" In response to the tense financial situation of the municipalities, he asked the question: "Is it necessary at this point, when there is such a low traffic load, to build a cycle path?"

In the end, the Environment and Transport Committee (against the vote of Roderich Zauscher / Greens) and the district committee (unanimously) voted in favor of the district administration's proposed resolution. Accordingly, DAH 14 will be downgraded to a municipal road. The funds for planning the expansion of the Oberumbach thoroughfare and the construction of the footpath and cycle path should be made available as part of the budget consultation for 2022, if possible. A planning agreement is also to be concluded with the Pfaffenhofen community. A decision about the expansion and the graduation should then be made after the planning and costing are available.
