A meeting held today at the Ministry of Oil and Mineral Resources chaired by Prime Minister Hussein Arnous focused on ways to increase production and productivity, control costs, maintain production lines and rehabilitate them with national expertise, and complete the automation project in the ministry's institutions to control waste and avoid imbalances in the distribution of oil derivatives.

The Prime Minister made it clear that despite the massive and systematic destruction that the oil sector has been subjected to from terrorist groups, Syria is a rich and benevolent country that possesses a lot of wealth. The real challenge for the government, the Ministry of Oil and its cadres remains to draw up plans and approve work programs and projects that are capable of investing these potential wealth and energies according to priorities. .

Engineer Arnous pointed out that the oil and mineral wealth sector constitutes the basic base and main carrier of the national economy, and the Ministry of Oil should bear the economic and national responsibility in this context and make all efforts to enable the sector to play its required national role and alleviate the suffering incurred by the citizen as a result of the lack of the amount of derivatives required to meet his needs.

The Prime Minister added that the citizen can understand the lack of supplies and the difficulties of providing oil derivatives, but what the citizen and all of us cannot understand or accept is the existence of misdistribution of these derivatives or the presence of corruption or waste in allocating the available quantities, and the Ministry’s management must continue to strike with an iron hand On all manifestations of imbalance in the distribution of the available quantities and the keenness to achieve justice in obtaining materials and justice as well as to bear the suffering and difficulties of shortage.

The Prime Minister stressed the coordination between the Ministry of Oil, Mineral Resources and Electricity so that the energy sector is managed in perfect harmony to optimally invest the available capabilities. He also stressed the need to invest the geological wealth sector and increase its added value and not to market it in its raw form as much as possible, and to propose new investment opportunities that guarantee its rapid investment.

For his part, the Minister of Oil and Mineral Resources, Eng. Bassam Tohme, explained that plans have been drawn up to rehabilitate the damaged facilities according to three stages, including re-positioning wells and facilities that were looted and sabotaged by production, increasing production, improving separation and treatment processes, and returning fields, facilities and production to normal, pointing to the insistence of workers, technicians and engineers The Ministry aims to rehabilitate the infrastructure, implement strategic plans and visions, and meet the ambitions for the advancement of this vital and important sector.

The meeting dealt with ways to improve the performance of oil sector services, develop the legislative and structural environment, activate the work of contracts signed with international cooperation partners, expedite the implementation of investment projects as soon as possible, and form a special operations room to follow up on these contracts, invest non-traditional sources of oil and shale gas, and introduce modern technologies in the field of exploration and production. Strengthening cooperation with the private sector to serve the refining sector.
