The final spurt is the name of the game for the construction of the new town hall.

In a few weeks - mid-August - the new building should be occupied.

The Special Committee for Building Projects (SOBA for short) is currently making the final decisions, for example on interior fittings.

Gröbenzell - The colors green and yellow will then reappear in the new building, partly on the walls, such as the large back wall behind the main staircase, which extends over several floors, partly on the floor.

The linoleum flooring in the employees' break room will be green.

In view of the advice on the colors in the new town hall, Brigitte Böttger (CSU) was not very enthusiastic about the color in the stairwell.

But architect Stephan Leissle reassured: “That is not the green of the 1970s”.

Some of the curtains are also green, including in the large conference room, where the fabric will have a dimming function.

Some of the walls are clad with wood, others are filled and painted white.

The ceilings are partly clad with wood, for example in the large conference room, in the wedding room and in a smaller hall on the first floor.

The large conference room is one of the few rooms that is largely being refurnished. The now 30 municipal councils and the representatives of the administration including the mayor will sit in a large oval at new tables, with sockets and a USB connection. But they will be used to the chairs, which one or the other long-term councilor has sat on for a number of years. In addition, there will be space for over 40 visitors in the hall. On the ceiling, two laser beamers project the documents onto the wall. The wedding room and the residents' registration office will also be refurbished.

In other places yellow-green appears again and again, benches in several rooms will be upholstered in this color. The floors in the main staircase will be made of stone, carpeting is planned in the large meeting room, the wedding room, the residents' registration office and the smaller hall on the first floor of the building. Other rooms receive a linoleum covering on the floor.

Not only has most of the furniture been used, some of the works of art that adorned the old town hall will also move back into the new building. Among them are the stained glass windows by Veronika dell'Olio, which will once again adorn the large conference room. The large glass ball lights that used to illuminate the large conference room will also appear in the new building, suspended from steel cables at different heights in the stairwell. However, they will not shine like they used to.

Not every council member likes that.

"I am not enthusiastic about lamps without light," reveals Brigitte Böttger (CSU) in SOBA.

A wooden relief by Arno Visino that hung in the old town hall above the entrance to the large conference room will also have a place again.

And in front of the new building, the Eva Moskopf-Horst water lily fountain will find a home again.

However, the bronze blossoms will get a new water basin, the old one was dilapidated.

The boules players can also return to the center of the village.

A playing area will be set up again in front of the town hall.

It is also certain, as it turned out in a SOBA meeting at the request of the UWG municipal council, Claus Donath, a master roofer, that the roof of the new building is tight.

It was flooded as a test.
