In its most recent meeting, the Wessobrunn municipal council approved the input planning for the Forster fire station and clubhouse at the new location on Raiffeisenfeld on the southwestern outskirts.

There was a heated discussion beforehand.

Wessobrunn / Forst

- Only a few days after the written public information about the latest plans by the municipality of Wessobrunn for the fire station and clubhouse in the district of Forst, the topic was on the agenda at the municipal council meeting. "There will be no final decision today, only the direction of the municipal council with a view to the priority list," said Mayor Georg Guggemos at the beginning of the discussion.

It got a bit heated right away, as Richilde Kölbl expressed criticism of the procedure. "The citizens were only half informed," complained Kölbl, who was also bothered by the visual design of the building on the draft plan and because, in her opinion, the costs at the initially targeted location at the sports center were overestimated at four to five million euros . "That would only have been so expensive with the maximum solution," said Kölbl, who did not want any hasty decisions on the matter and could also imagine an architectural competition for it. “The citizens want a tidy entrance to the town and not an industrial building,” said Kölbl, who then received opposition from her Forster council colleague Andreas Reßler.

"I do not see that the citizens were not involved enough and there is still something that can be done in terms of design," said Reßler about the planned project on the Raiffeisenfeld.

Max Obholzer also agreed: “I think the topic has been sufficiently appreciated.

The information has also been passed on to the clubs. "

For the Forster clubs, shooting boss Michael Schelle had already spoken out in the quarter hour and clearly supported the project at the new location.

“Basically, we all agree and we would be happy if a positive decision was made,” said the rifle master, describing the project as “important for the continued existence of the Forst district, but also for the whole of Wessobrunn”.

The planned swap of the approximately 5500 square meter Raiffeisen field with the old fire station, which stands on approximately 1000 square meters of land, was then discussed.

"If the exchange is not a condition of the business, I will not vote for it," said Gerlinde Sterr and a few other local councilors in favor of buying the property on Raiffeisenfeld and not exchanging it for the old fire station.

Guggemos, on the other hand, pleaded for the landowner to be accommodated in this matter, not least because in the past it was practically impossible to get building land in forest.

"For the fire station with club house, around 2500 square meters are required, the rest could perhaps be built on later," Guggemos explained when asked.

When it came to the design, Tom Füller and Gerhard Schelle - the two construction experts on the council - saw many opportunities for improvement at the end of the debate. “That was just a preliminary draft and not the final design,” said Füller. “We have not ordered a commercial hall. You can design it nicely, so you don't have to be afraid that it will be horrific, ”added Schelle. Ultimately, the local council unanimously approved the input planning for the project, currently estimated at 1.5 million euros, in which the Forster clubs want to contribute their part to a favorable overall calculation with a lot of their own contribution.
