It is a very delicate matter. It is so difficult to get it right that the only reasonable solution seems to cut its losses. It may be argued that, in that case, they would pay just for sinners, but no abuser is a just man, not even if the exclusive object of his violence is his partner, or his ex-partner, and not his children. An unjust man cannot be a good father. An abuser can only transmit to his children the perverse, macho, cruel and violent ideas that have made him what he is. The fact that many abusers have previously been abused children, or witnesses of abuse, does not suppose any mitigating, on the contrary. It only proves that what is truly essential is to end as soon as possible the hate story that sustains a criminal tradition, the murderous machismo that has struck us again. Anna and Olivia weren't just two girls,they are all children. Rocío was not just a woman, she is all women. Sexist violence is a gangrene that attacks the entire society, men, women and children, beyond the names, surnames of each victim and each executioner. Fighting it is so urgent that the small arbitrariness that this fight may entail should not slow down our effort. Every time an abuser tells the mother of his children that he will never see them alive again, it is too late to act. The only effective preventive measure is to remove joint custody from any parent accused or suspected of abuse. Would this measure cause the suffering of many families? Surely. Would it have prevented the death of many minors? Yes, without a doubt. What is more valuable, the right of a father,the pain of grandparents or the life of a child? Answer this question yourself.
