With national cadres and technical expertise, the maintenance work of the second steam group continues at the Zara power plant in Hama Governorate, which started on the thirtieth of last May and will supply the electrical system with 211 megawatts.
Engineer Mustafa Shantoot, director of the General Company for the Zara Power Plant, said in a statement to SANA reporter today that maintenance work is continuing for the steam generation group with the efforts and expertise of the company’s workers as a result of the siege and unilateral economic measures imposed on Syria, indicating that the maintenance work is scheduled to take 4 months and once completed and put into service. The group will not need maintenance again until after 10 years.
He noted the positive repercussions and effects of carrying out maintenance work by local expertise on the national economy and saving huge sums of money on the public treasury.
It is noteworthy that the steam turbine for the first generation group at the station witnessed similar maintenance work during the past year, while the third group was maintained at the station in 2019 with the help of foreign experts, along with national cadres and competencies.
The Zara Electric Plant includes 3 steam generating sets and is one of the latest steam generating stations and uses the latest technology and techniques used in control and operation, in addition to the presence of two maintenance management systems - MMS - and an energy management system (EMS).
