A seven-day project is planned for the beginning of July, after which a final decision on the opening of the clubs will be made.
If all goes well, nightspots could
start welcoming guests again around July 17th

According to regional president Francina Armengol, the nightlife on Mallorca should experience a new start "sooner rather than later," according to the newspaper
Diario de Mallorca
.
According to the plans, dancing should be allowed in the bars, but initially only until 3 a.m.
The mask requirement and safety distances will probably continue to play a role in parts.

In May, Francina Armengol was still critical of the opening of the clubs: "By opening the club too quickly, we would endanger the great sacrifices that our population has made in combating the pandemic," she said at the time. Nightlife could only reopen with a higher vaccination rate. From the government's point of view, the situation now appears to be stable enough that the opening of the clubs is in prospect. Currently, 47.9 percent of Mallorca's population (as of June 11) have received a first dose of vaccination, 24.6 percent are fully vaccinated, according to the

.
Apart from the opening perspective for the clubs, the focus of the Balearic Government has long been on preventing drinking tourism.
