President Bashar al-Assad received today a delegation from the Islamic National Conference that includes heads of parties, representatives, and political and trade union figures from a number of Arab and Islamic countries.
During the meeting, the discussion revolved around the idea of Arab nationalism, identity and belonging, as it was emphasized that what happened recently in Gaza, the victory that was achieved there and the movement of the Palestinian people in all regions, and the movement of the Arab people and their interaction with this event proved that despite all the plans that were prepared And marketing it to the Arab region under various names, the Arab people in all its countries are still clinging to their faith, their identity and their affiliation.
The talk also dealt with the importance of addressing the youth, and the need for renewal in the language in which the idea of nationalism is presented to the younger generations, as President al-Assad considered that the idea of nationalism in its basic and essential meaning is an idea of belonging, and that the national idea should not be presented in an abstract ideological theoretical framework, but rather This idea should be based on facts, and the link between principled and ideological ideas and the interests of peoples, indicating that the challenge facing the Arab intellectual elites is to convince people that there is a direct relationship between belonging and interest, and that divisive, isolationist or sectarian cases if they occur in an Arab country , it will move to other countries, and therefore we cannot look at the Arab countries except as one national arena.
The delegation members affirmed that the steadfastness of the Syrian people and their steadfastness in the face of all that they have been exposed to during the past years has restored consideration to the national project, and that Syria has paid and is still paying the price for its nationalist stances, support for the resistance, and resistance to plans and projects in the region, considering that Syria has the right of all Arab and Islamic peoples and all forces It is free in the world to stand by it, because defending Syria is self-defense, destiny and future, and because the victories that took place in Lebanon or in Palestine would not have occurred without the steadfastness of the Syrian people.
They also congratulated the Syrian people for their success in the presidential elections, considering that they demonstrated through this election the spirit of challenge during which they were able to stand firm and prove that the terrorist and economic war they were subjected to was not able to break their free will and independent decision.
