The Directorate of Health Affairs in Damascus seized minced meat of unknown origin, unfit for human consumption, in two broiler shops in Ain al-Karsh and Bustan al-Dour.
The director of health affairs in the governorate, Dr. Shadi Khallouf, explained in a statement to SANA’s representative today that the health control patrols seized 68 kilograms of rotten meat, including 39 kilograms of minced meat of unknown origin, spoiled winter chicken skin, and 29 cans of expired mayonnaise in a live chicken store in Bustan al-Dour. 19 kilograms of previously minced meat of unknown origin, 10 kilograms of frozen broiler skin, and a quantity of apple cider vinegar were placed in colored barrels in a live broiler shop in Ain El-Karsh.
Khalouf pointed out that the confiscated quantities should be destroyed and a decision was issued to close the shops for an indefinite period, stressing that the health control patrols are intensifying their daily presence in all markets and places where food is sold, and are strict in applying procedures against the owners of shops that violate health conditions.
