A cat trapped for a week between two walls and a 3 month old kitten who fell into a manhole were rescued by the firefighters of the

They now purr peacefully under the protection of loving families.

But they owe their salvation only to the tenacity of the firefighters specializing in animal rescue.

Just two days ago, one was stuck in a manhole cover, the other was trapped between two walls.

The two rescues took place this Saturday.

It was not even 9:30 a.m. when the firefighters intervened on avenue Pierre-Koenig in Sarcelles.

A kitten had fallen into the sewer system because of a faulty hatch.

He fell from a height of 2.50 m and obviously could not get out.

Problem, the completely frightened little animal did not allow itself to be approached by the firefighters and retreated as soon as they tried to retrieve it.

"He was walking between several collectors", explains a representative of the animal rescue team, created at the beginning of the year by the departmental fire and rescue service of Val-d'Oise (Sdis 95).

The specialists had to try several techniques of capture and compete in inventiveness.

Four hours of intervention to rescue the kitten

After four hours of intervention, they found the original solution that would allow this adorable kitten to be reassembled.

They placed a net in one of the collectors and then put water into the network.

"It only takes 5 cm of water for the kitten to be dragged by the current into the rainwater network", explains the specialist.

The animal could not resist.

The water dragged him into the net that the firefighters quickly brought up.

Once out, the little cat, only three months old, was still not out of the woods as no known owner could be found.

But a member of the intervention team decided to adopt it in order to give this miraculous little furball another chance.

The three-month-old kitten had fallen 2.50 m into this manhole.

Tuesday 95

The same day the animal rescue team of Sdis 95 was again on the bridge in Eaubonne.

It is 9:20 pm when the firefighters arrive at 35, rue de Soisy, a local resident having alerted them because of repetitive meowing.

On the spot, they find that a cat is stuck between two walls of boxes used to park cars.

19 firefighters participate in the rescue

To be able to intervene, the firefighters then call on the departmental rescue and clearance unit. They are then 19 firefighters on the spot scrambling to try to free the little beast. This will eventually come out through a hole in one of the walls. The cat actually lived some 200 m away. For a week, his masters had been looking everywhere for him, contacting all the veterinary care centers in the area. "It's an apartment cat who got scared during the storm last week," said the representative of the animal rescue team. “He went out the window and took refuge in a safe place, but he got stuck. Sometimes they get into a place because of the adrenaline rush. Afterwards they are unable to get out. "
