The high heat will cause an episode of pollution, especially ozone, in the region. Airparif alerts the most sensitive.

The air quality was not that great at the start of the week.

But for Wednesday, Airparif, the association for monitoring air quality in Ile-de-France, even forecasts a peak in pollution.

The limit thresholds for ozone (03) will exceed the first level called "information": "The observed anticyclonic conditions and temperatures exceeding 30 ° C in Ile-de-France will cause a further increase in ozone concentrations is planned ”, detail Airparif forecasters. Ozone is in fact formed by a chemical reaction from other pollutants, in particular emissions from road traffic, under the action of UV rays from the sun. As a result, "the air quality will be bad to degraded in the region" continues the association.

It is recommended for the most fragile people to favor short outings and those which require the least effort and to avoid doing it in the afternoon when the sunshine is maximum.

Finally, it is not recommended to do intense physical and sporting activities (including competitions) outdoors, but prefer those to those indoors, now that they are authorized.

An episode that will only last one day

The episode shouldn't last.

On Thursday, the drop in temperatures, the arrival of wind and clouds should make it possible to better disperse the pollutants in the region.

In general, air quality has been improving for several years in Ile-de-France.

But the thresholds recommended by the World Health Organization are still exceeded.
