It's a great day for Édouard Philippe. A year almost to the day after his departure from Matignon, the former prime minister has an appointment at the Elysee Palace on Tuesday at noon. In front of his family and a few dozen handpicked faithful, the mayor of Le Havre (Seine-Maritime) will be decorated by Emmanuel Macron with the rank of Grand Officer of the Legion of Honor, as tradition dictates, after two years spent in Matignon.
“It will be a republican moment, which will salute the action of a loyal man who will have served France for three years at the request of the President of the Republic. But also the trajectory of a mayor, of an elected official, ”
explains one soberly at the Elysee.
"It is anything but banal, but it is not a question of making it a political fact"
, warns the entourage of Édouard Philippe.

However, the former head of government was keen on his insignia as a grand officer of the Legion of Honor and above all on a ceremony worthy of the name.
