Auditing Rudelzhausen: expensive chairs, old contracts and the question of road salt

One or the other question came up during the audit in the Rudelzhausen community.

Does the community have its own forest?

Why doesn't she buy road salt in the spring?

Rudelzhausen

- The administration of the municipality of Rudelzhausen has submitted the 2020 annual accounts. Accordingly, the budget is balanced and has already been audited. Nothing stood in the way of a resolution and the discharge of those responsible by the municipal council. During the random check on May 20, only a few questions about one or the other bill came up.

For example, whether the community has a forest. Walter attributed this to a bill that had apparently been paid to a forester. Mayor Michael Krumbucher was not at a loss for an answer. Yes, you have a so-called "community wood", a piece of forest that can be used by the general public and for the maintenance of which said costs arise, explained Krumbucher. The auditors also complained about the relatively high price paid for the purchase of office chairs. Krumbucher pointed out that the chairs had to meet certain health standards and that one should therefore not save on the wrong side.

"The small recommendation" from Walter, if possible, to award contracts to local companies, Krumbucher took sympathetic note. But he couldn't promise that. Because in many cases the hands of the congregation are tied. Construction projects must be advertised in accordance with the guidelines. Mostly even across Europe. So the municipality does not have much leeway. However, Krumbucher admitted that the community's insurance contracts, as Walter demanded, “belong totally revised”. "We are at it right now," said the town hall chief. On the other hand, he showed less understanding for the auditor's advice to buy road salt in spring when prices were low. The town hall chief warned that the municipal road salt silo was too small and could only be bought later, when it's empty. So you couldn't buy road salt in July, argued Krumbucher. There were no further questions or recommendations from the Audit Committee.

Overall, last year's budget closes at 11.4 million euros.

6.5 million euros are allocated to the administrative budget, 4.9 million euros to the property budget.

The addition to finance the property budget amounts to 1.1 million euros.
