An editor and a reporter of "Next Magazine" searched the Immigration Department the previous year. The case was brought before the West Kowloon Magistrates' Court today (15th). Next Magazine, Element 5 Digital Limited and the editor pleaded guilty and each fined 40,000 yuan. The reporter signed a self-signed 2,000 yuan for conservative behavior for 12 months and dropped the charge.

The four defendants are Next Media Co., Ltd., Element 5 Digital Limited, "Next Magazine" editor-in-chief Mai Jingqing (47 years old) and reporter Zheng Jing (40 years old).

Next Media, Element 5 Digital Limited, and Mai are accused of being the proprietor, publisher and editor of Next Magazine, and they disclosed the personal information of a data subject together, that is, a copy kept under the "Registration of Births and Deaths" and belongs to one The personal data contained in the certified copy of the child’s birth registration record entry, and the data was obtained without consent from the data user with the intention of gaining, whether for the benefit of oneself or another Section 64(1)(a) of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance.

Zheng Ze is accused of being a reporter for Next Magazine, assisting and abetting the other three defendants to disclose the above-mentioned personal data obtained without the consent of the data user, in violation of section 64(1)(a) of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance And Article 89 of the Criminal Procedure Regulations.
