Heidi Schrödl went on patrol for the Schongau security guard for nine years.

Now the 66-year-old has drawn a line under her voluntary work.

At the official farewell in the Schongau police station, there was great regret.

Schongau

- The security watch in Schongau has been around since 2010, and Lechstadt has long been indispensable. Heidi Schrödl also played a major role in the fact that the facility has become a success model. In 2012, she joined the security guard, which was plaguing staff concerns at the time. The Schongauerin was immediately absorbed in her new task. The 66-year-old has successfully completed dozens of walks since then, a Schongau security watch without Schrödl, somehow difficult to imagine. But at some point even the most beautiful story comes to an end.

When he heard that Schrödl wanted to quit, he could not believe it at first, the well-known Schongau police chief Herbert Kieweg, who had invited Schongau's official farewell to the police station.

Over the past nine years, the 66-year-old has established a lot of contacts with the citizens with a lot of heart.

Schrödl has found a good rapport with young people in particular, said Kieweg, who thanked them for the trustful cooperation over the past nine years.

Known throughout the Oberland for their commitment

The 66-year-old is known for her commitment not only in Schongau, but throughout the Oberland, reminded Kieweg.

Schrödl was able to convince many a skeptical local council of the usefulness of the security guard.

Most recently, the 66-year-old successfully raised the bar in Peiting last year (we reported).

So it's no wonder that Police President Robert Kopp, who attended the farewell, also joined in the words of praise.

Schrödl is the "personified security guard", said Kopp when he gave the 66-year-old a small present, flowers and a letter of appreciation for her voluntary work.

Mayor thanks for many years of work

Of course, Schongau's mayor, Falk Sluyterman, did not come empty-handed either.

Before handing over the gift basket and flowers, the mayor thanked Schrödl for their many years of commitment.

She was the "face of the security guard" and always performed her duties with great sensitivity.

He hoped that the 66-year-old could do a lot with her newfound freedom.

Schrödl was visibly touched by the many appreciative words.

The decision to quit was not an easy one for her, she confessed.

“But my cross just doesn't play along anymore.” She wanted to thank all of PI for the “great cooperation”.

Even if the patrol is over now, Schrödl will continue to work for the city - as a senior adviser.
