"On your saddles, get set, go!": This is the motto from Saturday, June 19, in the Isartal community.
The municipality participates in the city cycling campaign.
Icking
- for three weeks - from Saturday, June 19 to Friday, July 9 - as many citizens as possible should switch from cars to bicycles and get into the pedals for climate protection.
"Let us in Icking combine the fun of cycling with pedaling for our climate", say Mayor Verena Reithmann and her deputy Claudia Roederstein.
After all, the bottom line is that the winners are all: Around 7.5 million tons of carbon dioxide could be avoided in Germany alone if only 30 percent of the short distances of up to six kilometers were covered by bike.
"We're not even talking about the increased stamina."
And because it is more fun in a community, the bosses of the wheelhouses recommend forming teams.
“Individual cyclists take part in the 'open team'.” Reithmann and Roedersteien naturally also hope that each individual will be ambitious to cover as many kilometers as possible.
"We collect kilometers, compete with each other - but also with other municipalities."

Switching to the saddle has another advantage: Dangerous areas are more noticeable than when you are driving a car.
These, either due to traffic or because there is a pothole on the route, can be reported directly to the town hall or on the municipality's website.
By the way:
Everything from the region is now also available in our new, regular Wolfratshausen-Geretsried newsletter.
Anyone interested and committed can register for city cycling on the Internet at www.stadtradeln.de/icking.
If you don't have a computer, you can get support directly from the town hall on 081 78/92 00 21.
"We hope for many enthusiastic young and older Ickinger cyclists", Reithmann and Roederstein show their anticipation for a good result.
"And already wish everyone a lot of fun and good sitting."
