The slap received by Emmanuel Macron during his trip to the Drôme on Tuesday, June 8, was condemned by the entire political class.
In the wake of this event, public figures of all stripes were moved by the rise in violence against elected officials in France.

No disagreement justifies such violence.
Too many elected officials and authority figures are victims of it today,
”for example reacted on Twitter Valérie Pécresse, the president of the Île-de-France region.

On Public Senate, Senator LR Jean-Raymond Hugonet even advances a figure which is at the very least worrying.

In 2020, 1,270 elected officials (were) attacked.

He rebelled.
Where do the figures announced by the parliamentarian come from and are they justified?
Have there really been 1,300 elected officials assaulted since the start of 2021, or as many as throughout the year?
