Young student literary talents of different races attended within the fifteenth central literary festival of the Syrian Students Union, with the participation of 65 participants representing 18 branches of the Students' Union.

The opening of the festival included speeches that emphasized the importance of the youth and their role in the steadfastness of the country and the defeat of the aggressors who tried to undermine Syria's unity and their role in reviving the march of science and knowledge and in enriching cultural life in Syria and the contribution of the Students' Union to discovering energies and talents for decades.

Exhibitions of handicrafts and paintings by Tishreen University students and writers were also opened within the festival. Batoul Ibrahim, head of the Information and Culture Office at the National Union of Syrian Students branch at Tishreen University, told SANA reporter that the exhibits varied between oil paintings, portraits with lead and charcoal, wood engravings, beads, crochet, wool, and reached The number of drawing boards is 25 for 13 students, while the number of participants with handicrafts is 35, while the book fair includes about 450 titles, most of which are literary titles and novels, and their prices are very symbolic.

In a statement to SANA, the head of the Culture and Information Office of the National Union of Syrian Students, Engineer Omar Al-Jabai, said that this festival is an annual tradition that aims to encourage young literary talents in all universities and institutes, pointing out that the festival includes selected elites chosen from among about 800 participants in the genres of story, poetry, thought and others. As well as judging committees to determine the winners of the first three places with the organization of intellectual seminars presented by the judging committees.

The students’ participation in the festival, according to Al-Jabai, was dominated by the suffering, concerns and aspirations of the youth, and it serves as a summary of what happened in the homeland during the past ten years, proving that they are a role model in terms of their adherence to the concerns, struggle and support of the homeland against all forms of terrorism, and that they are a substitute for the Syrian Arab Army and the pillar of the future in reconstruction, construction and community development. The authorities and unions concerned with the development of culture in Syria should follow up on young energies to activate it in the coming period and to become a role model for the generations to come.

Among the participants in the art exhibition, the student of informatics engineering, Mary Ahmed, stated that she participated in portraits with pencils and charcoal, with the aim of informing art-followers of her work and benefiting from the work of her colleagues in this field. The student at the College of Fine Arts, Zeina Hammoud, saw that these exhibitions are of great importance to familiarize others with the students’ creations. In the field of painting and other talents, as well as introducing the beautiful coastal environment that the painter draws with his brush.

Fine arts student Fatima Rahal pointed out that her participation is represented in paintings, most of which show half of the face of the human being who deals with others, while there is another internal and private face that expresses his inner feelings and feelings because the face is the mirror of the human being.

After the opening of the festival, the writer Anisa Abboud and Dr. Muhammad Basal, professor of linguistics and linguistics at the Faculty of Arts at Tishreen University and head of the branch of the Arab Writers Union in Lattakia, were honored. The honorees confirmed their pride in this honor.

It is noteworthy that the literary festival continues until next Wednesday and includes literary readings, poems, a thought, a story and a short story, while the book fair continues until next Thursday.
