In August, the trial of Starnberg's triple murder begins before a youth chamber at the Munich Regional Court.

50 days of trial are currently planned, around 170 witnesses are to be heard.

The main questions are the motive and the exact role played by the Starnberg helper of the alleged main culprit.

Starnberg - Was it a lack of money? Was it the greed for weapons or even a complete psychological dropout? A good one and a half years after the terrible crime in Starnberg, in which a couple of parents (60 and 64 years old) and their adult son (21) were shot, two young men (20 and 21 years old) have to answer for murder in three cases. You face life imprisonment and preventive detention. The trial starts on August 23 in the high-security room of the Munich-Stadelheim prison.

Initially, everything looked like the 21-year-old had committed suicide.

When the police opened the house, which was protected with a security code, on January 12, 2020, they found three bodies - those of the parents in their bedroom, those of the young man covered in his bed.

A gun was in his hand.

A violent crime was ruled out initially, there were no signs of a break-in.

But there was also no suicide note.

The forensic doctors are likely to have discovered more information during the autopsies of the bodies.

So far, the officially suspected crime sequence was that the 21-year-old had killed his parents and then himself.

The suicide scene was only fake

Ten days after the gruesome find, a good friend of the 21-year-old attacked a supermarket in Emmering. The police, who had not been fooled by the staged suicide scene, had long since tracked him down thanks to undercover investigations. When she finally met him in his apartment in Olching, she came across a huge arsenal of weapons. Upon arrest, the man surprisingly confessed to having wiped out the family. He filmed himself with his cell phone. The investigators managed to restore the deleted video.

In addition to the Olchinger, a young Starnberg man was arrested.

According to the indictment, the 20-year-old should have been privy to the murder plan.

Accordingly, he chauffeured the shooter, who had neither a driver's license nor a car, to the crime scene.

He also drove him to the supermarket robbery.

The two are said to have shared the booty of around 1,600 euros afterwards.

According to the investigators, the main defendant only committed one supermarket robbery in Olching in November 2019 (booty 4,500 euros).

The crucial question is about the motive

The decisive question of the process, for which 50 days of trial are scheduled and at which 170 witnesses must be heard, is that of the motive. The public prosecutor's office assumes an unbelievable greed for weapons, coupled with a chronic lack of money. The greed for arms connected the perpetrator and the young victim, who learned the trade of gunsmith. Apparently the two young men fiddled with weapons in their spare time. They made decorative weapons functional and also hoarded illegal weapons of war. The officers later found many of them in the hiding place in Olching. Allegedly, after the triple murder, the main defendant is said to have taken them out of the house in Starnberg and driven to Olching with the help of his accomplice. Apparently the men wanted to sell the guns in order to earn some money with them.

The question of the extent to which the driver was involved in the deeds is disputed.

He has three defense attorneys, his friend has two.

The juvenile criminal chamber, chaired by Regina Holstein, wants to negotiate every day for the first four weeks.

Thereafter, negotiations should take place two days a week.
