Two new imported cases of Indian domestic helpers, one with a variant virus
The Center for Health Protection of the Department of Health announced that as of 0:00 on June 15, the center is investigating 2 newly confirmed cases. So far, the total number of cases in Hong Kong is 11,881.
All newly added cases are input cases.
The 11880th case was a 39-year-old woman. The patient was a foreign domestic helper with no symptoms and no vaccinations. She arrived in Hong Kong from Indonesia on June 11 and took flight CX2780.
After she arrived in Hong Kong, she stayed at the Ramada Seaview Hotel in Sai Yingpan. The sample on the third day was confirmed and no variant virus was detected.
The 11881th case was a 28-year-old woman. The patient was a foreign domestic helper. She became ill on June 14 and was not vaccinated. She arrived in Hong Kong from Indonesia on June 11 and took flight CX798.
After she arrived in Hong Kong, she stayed at the Metropark Hotel Kowloon in Homantin. The sample on the third day was diagnosed and tested with the L452R variant virus.
A total of 37 cases were reported in the past 14 days (June 1-14), including 3 local cases, one of which is of unknown origin.

On the other hand, the Centre for Health Protection is following up the epidemiological investigation and contact tracing of cases involving the British variant virus (#11852, 11859 and 11860).
Yesterday, the center inspected the homes of three patients, the pet shop where Case 11852 (17-year-old girl) had stayed, and a unit of Tak Wing Industrial Building (the tutoring house of 17-year-old girl) with experts and representatives of relevant departments. Environmental samples, including 3 environmental samples taken from the refrigerator compartment in the patient’s home.
Tests conducted by the Public Health Laboratory Service of the Department of Health showed that one of the environmental samples on the packaging surface of pre-packaged refrigerated food tested positive for the new crown virus, and Kamoto was collected from the surface of a Thai frozen crocodile meat package.
