Former agent of the DGSI, "

Haurus

" faces ten years in prison for having sold confidential information on the "

darknet

".

On the first day of his trial before the Nanterre Criminal Court, he explained on Tuesday June 15 that he had acted for profit, until he “

lost his footing with reality

”.

White sneakers, jeans, shirt and black mask emblazoned with the tricolor flag, the 35-year-old man, who worked in an anti-terrorism unit of the General Directorate of Internal Security, recounts in a calm and confident tone that he began to frequent the "

darknet

”for work in 2017, as part of an investigation into the financing of an attack project. There, on a forum, he said he had met a forger with a “

storefront

”.

Seduced by the idea of being able to put "

butter in the spinach

" while he is in debt, the investigator specializing in radical Islam begins to provide the forger with real information used to manufacture false administrative documents, card gray or driver's license.

"

It took me five minutes a day (...) it didn't seem like much to me

," he confesses at the helm.

Then comes the idea to provide more detailed information to which he has access through his work: last known address, criminal record, travel destinations ... "

There, things really go wrong

", recognizes the ex-police officer, who then charges its services up to 300 euros.

A form of "

addiction

"

Several months later, he adopted the pseudonym “

Haurus

” and joined another forum, where from “

subcontractor

” he became “

auto-entrepreneur

”, he describes using the words of the president of the tribunal. He sets up a shop himself where he sells his information. "

There was a form of distancing, during the day I was the good cop (...) and in the evening I took on the role of Haurus

". At the helm, the former volunteer in the gendarmerie, who says he was "

very marked by the attacks

" of 2015, presents himself as a victim of a form of "

addiction

", unable to stop himself .

But he refuses that his portrait is perceived as that of a "

ripou of the national police

".

Police officers who do personal research are not an urban legend

,” he adds.

"

Haurus

" also recalls that he did not sell information drawn from the intelligence base of the DGSI, specifying that he had simply consulted it for personal purposes for "

checks

".

According to the prosecution, he carried out 382 illegitimate searches.

"

Ten requests may have been made for one and the same research

", he adds, estimating the gains thus made at 30,000 euros.

Several men murdered in Marseille after research by Haurus

His companion, judged by his side and accused of being his accomplice, confesses his "

shame

" and explains having qualified Haurus' attitude as "

stupid

". “

I was afraid to know

” the truth, he continues. Two counterfeiters of the “

darknet

” and two of his clients

are also warned in this case

: a private detective and a regular in the middle of Marseille organized crime, Christophe N., already imprisoned in another case. Certain "

orders

" of the latter are particularly studied by justice, several men having been assassinated in Marseille after Haurus research on them.

This part of the case earned the police officer another indictment, in Marseille, for passive corruption and criminal association with a view to committing organized gang crimes. Asked about this, "

Haurus

" reminds the bar that he has not yet been heard on the merits and adds: "

At the time (...) what was happening in Marseille, it was happening to me over . We hear about the settling of scores there every day

”.

Christophe N., who conversed on the phone with "

Haurus

" from a prison cell, assures that he does not know the people about whom he asked him for information, swearing to be only an intermediary. Asked about a message extracted from a conversation with "

Haurus

" where he envisaged that one of these men targeted by a research could be assassinated, Christophe N. promises that it was a simple copy and paste and not of 'a handwritten message. Continuation of the debates on Wednesday.
