The candidate for the presidency of Peru for Peru Libre, Pedro Castillo, assured this Tuesday that he is "patiently waiting for the results" of the second round of elections on June 6.
"Things continue to be stigmatized, they continue to be called by other spaces to want to overturn an election, but for our part they will not do it," he warned.
"The candidacy process has been completed," Castillo added during a three-minute meeting with the foreign press accredited in the country.
There, after stating that "he had an agenda to fulfill," he left the conference room of his campaign premises in Lima without answering the questions of journalists from more than 20 international media who had come to the meeting.
The National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE), reported this Tuesday on its website that it had processed and accounted for 100% of the electoral records -which reflect the results of the voting tables-, with 50.125% for Castillo and 49.875% for Keiko Fujimori, from the Fuerza Popular party, and a difference of just over 44,000 votes for the former.
According to the ONPE, there are no pending records sent to the National Elections Jury (JNE), which is the body that must declare the winner of the vote.
