It must help prepare the way out of the crisis and the recovery of the economy, by ensuring the sustainability of public finances. This requires lucidity: the crisis will leave lasting marks. We maintain a strong economy, with an undeniable rebound capacity but also with weaknesses to which we must be attentive. France entered this pandemic with a higher deficit and debt than in most other European countries. We must therefore adhere to a more vigilant public finance policy than others. In particular, our debt situation requires resolute and strong action: it is an imperative of sovereignty for France and of stability for the euro zone.We cannot bet that low interest rates alone
