Compensation areas must be created for construction activities.

The municipality of Poing currently owns and maintains almost 160,000 square meters.

An overview.

Poing - If you walk, jog or cycle between Poing and Pliening, you will pass areas with tall grass and wildflowers between all the fields, some of which are fenced in and with information boards.

Entry is prohibited, it is a so-called compensation area.

Due to the construction activities in the municipality of Poing, the municipality currently owns and maintains almost 16 hectares (159,000 square meters).

That corresponds to the size of about 23 soccer fields.

The locations

"Impairments to nature and landscape, such as those caused by the designation of building areas as part of the land-use planning, by road or line construction or by many other projects, require compensatory and replacement measures." So it is on the website of the Bavarian State Office for the Environment.

Further: "Accordingly, landscape conservation and nature-friendly measures are to be carried out on other areas in order to significantly increase the ecological quality of these areas.

The ecologically higher quality areas are intended to compensate for the impairment of nature and the landscape and are to be permanently secured and preserved. "

Compensation areas as places of retreat

The 16 hectares, which the municipality of Poing created on fields previously used for agriculture, serve as compensation for the new construction of the building yard as well as for municipal construction work on the Bergfeld in Poing-Nord (from the residential area W5), informs Mayor Thomas Stark.

Compensation areas are always places of retreat for animals, especially for ground-breeders. The State Association for Bird Protection (LBV) asks not to enter compensation areas. It is also not a question of dog walking. According to the LBV, "valuable habitats that contribute to the preservation of biodiversity" should be created on such areas. Typical for this are, for example, orchards, extensive grassland, poor grassland or alluvial forests. The LBV also writes that compensation areas should be as close as possible to the built-up areas. As is the case in Poing with the “Lerchenfeld”, which adjoins the new development area W7 (Lerchenwinkel).
