Parents of nursery school students protest against the expulsion of a mother with two dependent children. Since then, the prefe

“I can't believe the number of signatures,” says Lamia.

Before, I was alone in this tunnel.

Since June 2, a petition has been circulating to protest against the expulsion of this mother who is raising alone her daughter Lujayne, 5, and her nephew Islam, 17, in an apartment on rue Gabriel-Péri, in Saint -Denis.

In total, the petition has collected more than 14,800 signatures.

Behind this outpouring of solidarity hides the mobilization of the parents of pupils of the Puy-Pensot nursery school in Saint-Denis, where Lujayne is educated.

The idea for the petition comes from Laetitia, a mother whose son goes to school in the little girl's class.

Lamia had just received a phone call from the bailiff informing her that she was going to be evicted the next day.

"I told myself that something had to be done quickly to help her," says Laetitia.

In 48 hours, I obtained 10,000 signatures: this action exceeded Saint-Denis!

"

For a few months now, this mother of a family has already been helping Lamia with her administrative procedures.

Because the forties is stuck in a case of over-indebtedness vis-à-vis the owner of his home since 2018.

"I remember hearing the police coming up the stairs"

That year, Lamia leaves her apartment after a dispute with her partner.

In December, she had a "shock" when she received a letter from the condominium manager.

For a year, his companion did not pay the rent, without informing him.

As the lease is in its name, it is the beginning of an ordeal.

When she returns to this accommodation, the trustee threatens her with eviction.

"I remember hearing the police coming up the stairs," recalls Lamia, her eyes red with tears at the memory.

My daughter was in tears.

"

On June 1, the bailiff's new call made him panic.

In reality, she was summoned to an expulsion commission from the sub-prefecture.

“These methods of frightening are shocking, Judge Laetitia.

In case of eviction, the 115 is supposed to find accommodation for families with children but it is saturated.

Lamia risked ending up on the street.

"

At the end of this meeting, the committee finally granted Lamia three months' reprieve.

“We wonder if it is thanks to our action, slips Laetitia.

Now one has to try to get a clear amount of debt.

It is constantly enhanced in an incomprehensible way by the trustee!

"

Seine-Saint-Denis "largely at the head of the number of evictions", according to the DAL

The Right to Housing Association (DAL), which supports this family, is organizing a demonstration at 4 p.m. on Wednesday in front of the Saint-Denis sub-prefecture to protest against the resumption of evictions since the end of the winter break on June 1.

In a press release, the DAL accuses the Seine-Saint-Denis prefecture of not respecting an instruction dated April 28.

"If an eviction must take place, it must be accompanied by a proposal for another accommodation, or failing a proposal for accommodation until a more lasting solution is found", indicates the document in question published on the website of the Ministry of the Interior.

Document from the regional prefecture in support, the DAL nevertheless advances that "2,192 families were expelled in 2019 in Seine-Saint-Denis, placing this department largely at the top of the number of expulsions". For its part, the prefecture of Seine-Saint-Denis did not respond to our requests, nor communicated figures concerning the number of expulsions in the department. According to data from the Ministry of the Interior, 16,700 forced evictions were carried out in France in 2019.
