More than 1,000 diamond prospectors took to a village - in the North Coast region of South Africa - after the discovery of unidentified stones was reported.
Villagers have been excavating since Saturday after a shepherd found the first of these stones, which several believe to be quartz crystals.
The stones have already started to be sold with prices ranging from US $ 7 to US $ 22.
