, tourists in Spain have to shell out 82 percent more for a rental car per day than in the pre-Corona year 2019. In Italy, prices have risen by 57 percent.
The only exception: in Turkey rental cars have even become 7 percent cheaper.
The price increases on the relevant holiday islands are particularly dramatic: in Ibiza a rental car costs four times as much today as in 2019, on Mallorca prices rose by 193 percent, in Sicily by 108 percent.

Schiffelholz expects rental car prices to continue to rise dramatically in the coming weeks.
