Same trouble every year. But the party-mad youngsters have never been at Emmeringer See as raged as on Wednesday night. Are there any consequences now?

Same trouble every year.

But the party-mad youngsters have never been at Emmeringer See as raged as on Wednesday night.

Are there any consequences now?

Emmering

- The 3.1 hectare leisure area has meanwhile become a Mecca for school graduation parties.

Mayor Stefan Floerecke is now even considering closing the area completely for further upcoming parties.

Emmeringer See: devastation on an unprecedented scale

"I've never seen devastation on this scale." The city hall boss reacted in horror in the morning when he looked at the chaos along the bank.

Mountains of rubbish piled up in front of him, broken glass littered the lawns.

The entire workforce of the community building yard was busy cleaning up the grossest rubbish for several hours.

Rioters also damaged bathroom facilities and benches.

The detailed work was then even more complex.

The smallest pieces of glass had to be picked up between the blades of grass with great effort.

In order to prevent injuries to the visitors pouring into the lake, Florecke was forced to completely block the terrain for a few hours on Wednesday morning.

Emmeringer See: First the bass thumps

Shortly after 1 p.m. on Tuesday after the end of classes, the first young caravans from the Brucker FOS / BOS graduation classes appeared and made their way to the lake in smaller groups.

For the first time, according to Floerecke's findings, school classes from Karlsfeld had also come.

In almost every delegation there was a couple who carried a porter with them for beer and other beverages.

In the early afternoon the deep bass from the music systems was already booming over the area.

At first everything seemed to be going well, the kiosk operator Rudi Schwarz had nothing to complain about.

But with increasing alcohol levels, the action at the lake escalated.

In the evening, the police were on site with several patrols, patrolling the site and calling for compliance with the corona rules.

The last consequence would have been the complete evacuation of the area with an even larger police presence.

"But that would not have been proportionate," explained Floerecke in view of the several hundred, mostly already drunk young people.

Emmeringer: The cost of cleaning

The mayor puts the total cost of cleaning the site at up to 6,000 euros. And that's not all: In the next few days, secondary school students and high school graduates are expected to attend their graduation ceremonies. Unless Floerecke puts a stop to this. A complete site closure would be even more costly and legally not so easy in the short term, but the mayor does not want to rule it out completely. What really upsets the 36-year-old town hall boss, who is still relatively young: "Especially the young generation who adore Friday for Future and cry out for more environmental protection are behaving so ruthlessly and without mind." He understands and allows the graduating classes to celebrate their party . "But it doesn't work that way."

Based on the experiences from previous years, Floerecke had already contacted the schools and rectors in the run-up to the graduation ceremonies and asked them to be considerate.

That doesn't seem to have been used.

Now the mayor wants to appeal once again to the common sense of young people on social media and in the communal newsletter.

Emmeringer See: Police warn the young people

After the police had been informed about the party at Emmeringer See, the local officials tried to communicate with the young people, as a police spokeswoman in Fürstenfeldbruck said when asked.

Attempts have been made to bring the corona rules to the celebrants, but also the correct waste behavior.

In the course of the night and after increasing alcohol consumption, people were then sent home.

A resolution of the celebration was not appropriate given the current circumstances, said the spokeswoman.

“We appealed to reason.” The police had also managed to find someone responsible.

How this knowledge is dealt with is a matter for the municipality of Emmering.

Other things - such as the idea of closing off the area around the lake - have to be discussed in peace.

Young people then looked for other locations.

There was no noteworthy aggressive behavior against the police officers, said the spokeswoman.

“Well, no bottles were thrown at us.” The phenomenon of this evening in three words from the point of view of the police spokeswoman: party, garbage and alcohol.
