In order to ensure the safety of passengers, VAG Nürnberg uses the summer months for construction work.

Numerous renovations are planned.

Nuremberg - In order to keep the impact on passengers as low as possible, VAG Verkehrs-Aktiengesellschaft Nürnberg *, together with the city of Nuremberg, uses the summer holidays every year to repair and modernize systems and tracks.

VAG wants to ensure that all passengers can get to their destinations safely and reliably around the clock.

Nuremberg: VAG uses the summer months for construction work - these routes are affected

This year, too, some construction work is necessary, which should now be carried out gradually.

The start will be on June 19 and 20, 2021 with a construction site for N-ERGIE Netz GmbH in Sulzbacher Straße.

Tram line 8 (Erlenstegen - Doku-Zentrum) cannot run during this time.

Buses are used for replacement traffic.

Then the subway area is next.

Every evening, starting at 9 p.m., from 21 June to 8 October, the VAG completely renews the concrete longitudinal beams - on which the tracks lie - on various sections of the U1 (Fürth Hardhöhe - Langwasser Süd), U2 (Röthenbach - airport) and U3 (Großreuth near Schweinau - Nordwestring).

Passengers then either have to get off at the affected station and get back on the opposite platform or use the replacement bus service.

From June 28 to July 16, the tracks in the Wendeschleife in Gibitzenhof will be renewed.

Tram line 4 (Am Wegfeld - Gibitzenhof) runs as usual in the north, replacement buses run in the south.

On July 19, the construction work around the Glockenhof area, which extends from Marientorgraben via the train station to Scheurlstrasse and Widhalmstrasse, continues.

The VAG is gradually implementing the measures planned there.

A total of 14 switches, five crossings, 700 meters of double track, 110 meters of track surface and 670 meters of overhead contact line will be renewed in this area.

The construction work is expected to continue until autumn 2022 and will limit the operation of tram lines 5, 7 and 8.

Replacement buses are also to be used here.

Nuremberg: Construction work restricts tram traffic

VAG will exchange switches on the U1 and U2 underground lines between August 23 and September 12 and between November 2 and November 5, 2021.

At the end of the construction site season, track work is planned in Johannis from the beginning of November to mid-December.

These have an impact on the operation of tram line 6 (Westfriedhof - Doku-Zentrum).

Replacement buses are also to be used here.
