2021-06-19T05:01:30.888Z

Jean Castex had to isolate himself seven days after being in contact with his wife last Wednesday. He can resume visits and move

In isolation for a week after having been in contact with his wife, Jean Castex was authorized to resume Wednesday morning "his face-to-face activities", after being tested negative for Covid, Matignon announced to AFP.

"The result of the Prime Minister's PCR test, carried out at the end of his 7-day isolation period, in accordance with health rules, is negative," said Matignon.

Jean Castex will therefore be able to participate in the Council of Ministers on Wednesday, as well as to go to Cheverny (Loir-et-Cher) to support Minister Marc Fesneau, the majority candidate for regional in Center - Val de Loire.

The Prime Minister must increase the number of trips this weekend as the first round on Sunday approaches.

He will thus travel to Épernay (Marne) on Thursday morning alongside Minister Brigitte Klinkert, head of the list in the Grand-Est, then in the afternoon to Le Creusot (Saône-et-Loire) in support of the mayor of Nevers Denis Thuriot, leader in Burgundy Franche-Comté, before going up in the evening on the platform of the meeting of Bruno Bonnell in Lyon (Rhône), candidate in Auvergne - Rhône-Alpes.

Finally, he is expected Friday afternoon in Bordeaux (Gironde) with Minister Geneviève Darrieussecq, head of the list in New Aquitaine.

Three isolations on the counter

Jean Castex must have been able to place himself in isolation after his wife tested positive for Covid-19, Wednesday, June 9, at the end of a day during which the Prime Minister had increased the number of visits and meetings on the occasion of the phase 2 of deconfinement.

Jean Castex was thus forced to isolate himself for the third time in less than a year, after having been declared a contact case of the director of the Tour de France Christian Prudhomme in September, then of Emmanuel Macron in December, without however ever being tested positive.

The Prime Minister should also receive his second dose of vaccine at the end of the week, after a first injection of AstraZeneca received on March 19, said Matignon.
