Since this week there is the digital proof of vaccination on the mobile phone.

This is how it started in the Tölzer district.

Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen

- It could be something like the entrance ticket for the summer vacation: The digital vaccination certificate on the mobile phone was introduced a few days ago and should - at least according to the announcement from the Federal Ministry of Health - be available in the pharmacy from Monday.

However, quite a few such promises were followed by a rather bumpy start.

This time, however, at least Christopher Hummel, spokesman for the pharmacies in the district, reports on a smooth start.

"It works perfectly," said the pharmacist on Monday at noon on request.

By this time he and his employees had already issued a few dozen vaccination certificates in his two pharmacies in Gaißach and Bad Heilbrunn.

Pharmacy spokesman Hummel: "We are busy exhibiting"

And it works like this, according to Hummels: “The customer brings us his vaccination pass or the vaccination certificate.

We then enter the name, date of birth, date of the second vaccination and the drug administered into the system. ”These data would then be forwarded to the Robert Koch Institute.

If everything is correct, a QR code arrives at the pharmacy "in a matter of seconds".

The customer receives it printed out.

He can scan it with his smartphone either via the Corona warning app or the new CovPass app and receives a green tick there - provided that there is full vaccination protection.

“The corresponding platform was activated for the pharmacies from 8 a.m.,” says Hummel happily.

"It was still jerky for the first 15 to 20 minutes, but when our pharmacy opens we are busy issuing the certificates."

The prerequisite for this is that the pharmacy was previously connected to the telematic infrastructure for electronic data transmission.

But that is the case with most of them because they will also have to process electronic prescriptions from January 1, 2022.

Anyone who needs the digital vaccination certificate is welcome to come, says Hummel - “just not all at once”.

But that also worked out well on Monday.

"We have constant demand, but not a rush."

“Zero demand” in the local doctor's offices

The digital proof of vaccination in the local doctor's offices is not yet an issue. "Zero" demand recorded on Monday Dr. Matthias Bohnenberger, chairman of the "Tölzer family doctors". “People continue to ask rather: When will I be vaccinated?” Wolfratshauser GP Martina Mauerer also reports that at most patients who are already there for other concerns ask for proof of vaccination.

At this point in time, the general practitioners cannot even issue the required QR code.

"I'm afraid that the necessary software will not be included in our next quarterly update of the practice system at the end of June," says Bohnenberger.

If he is appropriately equipped, the Tölz doctor would find it useful to issue the digital vaccination certificate for those patients who were also vaccinated in his practice and whose data is stored on site.

“I would find it rather difficult with others,” he says.

Then the workload for his team would be high and the verification of whether the vaccination data is correct would hardly be feasible.

Late proof of vaccination is "double work"

His Wolfratshausen colleague Mauerer expects that she will receive the necessary software update in her practice in mid-July. According to her, most patients no longer expect such innovations to work from day one. "They express themselves rather resigned or amused," says the doctor. The pattern that something is announced publicly before the necessary infrastructure is in place is now known. "It would have been a good idea if the vaccination certificate could have been issued when vaccinating," says Mauerer. "Now it's double the job."

The QR code for the green tick is also available in the vaccination centers in Bad Tölz and Wolfratshausen - but only if you are there for the second vaccination appointment.

According to district office spokeswoman Marlis Peischer, the vaccination centers still have no information about an exhibition in retrospect.
