Marko Arnautovic will miss tomorrow's match against the Netherlands due to a one-round ban for "insulting another player" in Austria's 3-1 victory over North Macedonia.
UEFA punished him for his "bad behavior", according to article 15 of its rules.
The racist insult was therefore not ascertained, which would have condemned Arnautovic to a much longer stop, at least 10 games according to the same regulation, and therefore to leave the European football championship.
The Serbian-born player apologized Monday on Instagram to his "friends from North Macedonia and Albania", referring to "exchanges heated yesterday in the excitement of the match", but without revealing the content of his words. According to several media outlets, the target of the offenses was Leeds defender Ezgjan Alioski, with reference to his Albanian origins.
