Fouad Abou Nader: "Lebanon must become a nation"

INTERVIEW - This Christian, who took an active part in the civil war, asks his compatriots to put their country before their religious affiliation.


A man of heart and passion, Fouad Abou Nader is not the style to give up.

His country must find the path to peace, prosperity and the joy of living.

At 65, this trained doctor has just written

Lebanon: the challenges of freedom,

with Éditions de L'Observatoire, to shout it out loud and clear.

With the complicity of two journalists specializing in the country of the Cedar - Nathalie Duplan and Valérie Raulin -, he recounts his fight alongside his uncle Bachir Gemayel during the civil war, who became President of the Republic before being assassinated in 1982, recalls that the question of the Christians of the East is, according to him, more geopolitical than religious and traces prospects for the future of Lebanon.

- Your book is a call for a peaceful Lebanon, but you have not always contributed to it yourself.

You fully participated in the war from 1975 to 1990 with the Lebanese Forces, on the Christian side.
