The city of Geretsried has invited to the citizens' meeting.

Unlike usual, District Administrator Josef Niedermaier does not take part - with reference to the debate about the Wolfratshausen district clinic.

Geretsried / Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen

- Due to the controversial discussion about the future of the Wolfratshausen District Clinic, District Administrator Josef Niedermaier will not take part in public "event formats" for an indefinite period of time. The press spokeswoman for the district authority, Marlies Peischer, said on Tuesday. For the citizens' meeting on Wednesday evening in Geretsried, Niedermaier had already apologized to Mayor Michael Müller for his absence.

Peischer explains the decision of the district administrator, also chairman of the supervisory board of the Kreisklinik gGmbH, with the ongoing debate about the facility on Moosbauerweg. “The heated discussions in the run-up to the district council meeting scheduled for May” (Peischer) had, as reported, led to Niedermaier proposing a “discussion moratorium” before the decisions to be made on future health care in the district. The district council agreed. Now “the individual points are to be debated even more deeply than before” in order to arrive at a “sustainable solution”. As a first step on this path, Niedermaier wrote an open letter to around 400 clinic employees, as a large company meeting is not possible due to the Corona regulations. In the letter, the district administrator once again explains the clinic's balance sheet - “and precisely because the public debate is so massive, I wrote this letter as an open letter”.

District administrator first wants to provide the hospital staff with information

In the three-page letter, Niedermaier also announces the further information and discussion offers "which are intended to contribute to a factual opinion-forming process".

Informing the clinic staff has priority for him.

According to the 57-year-old, the workforce is “the first group” he wants to “actively approach”.

This has an impact on his participation in "other event formats".

At the citizens' meeting in Geretsried, he will not be available to answer questions in the council chambers this Wednesday evening.

According to the district office spokeswoman Peischer, Niedermaier “already communicated this to Mayor Müller with the request for understanding that, in the current situation, one would seek a conversation with the clinic employees”.
