The Grenoble correctional court on Wednesday, June 16 fined a close friend of Alain Carignon, the main local opponent to Eric Piolle, to a 3,000 euros fine, for defaming the environmental mayor during his victorious campaign for the 2020 municipal elections.

François Tarantini, 72 years old and close to the former RPR minister convicted of corruption in 1996, was prosecuted for having suggested, on an opposition blog for which he is the editorial manager, that Eric Piolle was guilty of illegal taking of interest.
