Under the epidemic, citizens have been unable to travel abroad for more than a year, making Hong Kong outing destinations more popular.

Located in Yuen Long, Nam Sang Wai, known as "Hong Kong people's back garden" and "bird paradise", is one of the local tourist attractions, but the existing facilities at the place cannot cope with the large number of people.

The Yuen Long District Council today (16th) convened the Local Tourism, Economics, and Industry and Commerce Committee. Some district councilors thought that when promoting the natural beauty of Nam Sang Wai, the nearby facilities, such as mobile toilets and signage, should also be updated to meet the needs of the public .

At present, Nam Sang Wai is a hotspot for citizens to relax on holidays. However, the old wooden signposts set up by the citizens have become dilapidated over time, and the lack of signposts to Nam Sang Wai also makes it easy for people outside the district to get lost. District councillors hope that the authorities can assist in installing corresponding road signs.

In addition, as the flow of people in Nam Sang Wai increases, some district board members have also suggested that more mobile toilets should be installed for tourists to cope with emergency needs.

Yuen Long District Councillor Chen Jinglun pointed out that in addition to adding road signs, the authorities can also follow the example of Typhoon Mangkhut, where citizens set up display boards with local characteristics to display 12 ecological features of the Nan Sang Wai scene.

Chen Jinglun questioned whether the location of the current mobile toilets is convenient for visitors. He said that one of the toilets is close to Shanbei Village and its location is remote. Few people know that there is a toilet there. They feel that they have been privatized by the villagers. Therefore, he hopes that the authorities should add some instructions appropriately. , Let more visitors know the location of the toilet.

Lin Tingwei pointed out that although the Civil Affairs Department had visited the district council members and had follow-up arrangements, he was puzzled by the fact that the Department did not reply to the district council in writing and hoped to make up after the meeting.

In addition, he pointed out that in recent years, many real estate developers have paid close attention to the land in Nan Sang Wai, believing that strengthening the promotion of outings in Nan Sang Wai can play a "protective effect" on the area.

Huang Weixian was worried about the sanitation situation under the high usage rate of toilets, and asked the relevant departments about cleaning arrangements.

FEHD: Mobile toilets have been added and updated

When responding to enquiries, the representative of the FEHD pointed out that they are concerned about the environmental hygiene of Nam Sang Wai, and that mobile toilet services are now provided at the site.

In order to further improve the service quality of mobile toilets, the Department has replaced the two original toilets on the site with solar mobile toilets in March.

In view of the increasing number of people visiting Nam Sang Wai, the Department will increase the number of solar mobile toilets to four in mid-June to meet the needs of the public.

As for some district board members who are concerned about the hygiene of mobile toilets, the representative pointed out that they have stepped up the daily cleaning and increased the number of times to cope with the frequency of toilet use.

The representative of the Civil Affairs Department pointed out that regarding related matters, he and the district councillors went to inspect the matter a few days ago, and then contacted the engineering department to study and deal with it.
