Traffic monitoring in the municipality of Wörth is bearing fruit.

Since the community started flashing, violations have halved.

Wörth

- The administrative officer responsible for traffic monitoring, Maria Gaigl, submitted her report to the Wörth municipal council meeting on Monday evening with critical comments. It is incomprehensible that in various WhatsApp groups warned of speed cameras in the municipality, "because there are often complaints about speeding". That is "annoying and a shame". Gaigl wanted people to be aware of why signs were put up to reduce speed: to protect road users and to reduce risks.

Since the traffic surveillance brings with it a deficit, there can be no question of "highway robbery".

The monitoring is effective, the violations have been reduced by half.

67 percent would be in the area of warning fines of 15 euros, 33 percent would be fines between 50 and 200 euros.

Around two driving bans are issued every year.

Traffic monitoring: an increase in income up to 2017, sharply declining since 2018

Since March 2007, the municipality of Wörth has had the flowing traffic monitored by the non-profit organization gGKVS. “There was an increase in income up to 2017,” said Gaigl about the finances. Income has been falling sharply since 2018. and the deficit has been increasing annually since then. Especially in 2020 the slump was "enormous" with a minus of more than 20,000 euros. This development can certainly be attributed to the lower volume of traffic due to the corona pandemic.

In addition, the use of a speed measurement system no longer offers the desirable legal certainty due to the measurement inaccuracies that have been determined. The manufacturer therefore no longer permitted the use of the device until further notice. Therefore, the operating times could no longer have been organized flexibly. The company commissioned by the community has procured replacement devices for measurement, which are to be used in the second half of the year. New measuring points will be selected in the future, since the known locations are now being driven slowly and the destination has thus been reached.

Since November 2020, stationary traffic has also been monitored, i.e. parked cars.

So far 40 violations have been found.

The income amounted to 585 euros, the expenses to around 990 euros.

The highest proportion of parking offenders was found in Wörth with 45 percent, followed by Hörlkofen and Hofsingelding.

There are also controls in Wifling.

Accident prevention campaigns are also being carried out specifically for primary school children.
