The summer holidays are approaching. Do you take care of your father or your mother who still lives at home on a daily basis and you may need to take a breather? La Poussinière can help you! This house of cultures located in Thomery has been welcoming independent elderly people since last January, even though they are suffering from cognitive disorders (Alzheimer's type). An innovative system, an intermediate step between home and nursing home, supported by the departmental council and the municipality of Thomery. In this beautiful bourgeois residence converted into a "shared home", six tenants each occupy a room. There are four still free.

"We offer short stays of a minimum of one week so that caregivers can breathe", specifies Caroline Deligny, the manager of the site where seven carers from Ceka Services, a home services agency based in Thomery work with her.

Count around 1,100 euros per week (meals, 24-hour help, rent and charges included).

For families who would hesitate, Caroline Deligny also suggests that their grandfather test the establishment one or two days a week for six months for example, to get an idea.

“It is discussed together with the person and his relatives.

We adapt to each situation, ”she assures us.

A first assessment deemed positive

In any case, since the opening of this house on January 14, it has drawn up a first positive assessment.

“The people who live here are doing very well.

Some are redoing things they no longer did.

Aline, who never danced, launched into a tea dance that we had organized!

She is 84 years old.

This means that she is confident, that she feels secure enough.

"

For Caroline Deligny and her team, it is a victory against the withdrawal into oneself that has been threatening every senior before.

“We had people withdrawn in their homes, with little social contact, poor nutrition.

Today, they are radiant.

They eat well.

Everything we serve here is homemade with fresh produce from the Tuesday morning market.

We are also going to put tomato plants in the greenhouse… ”

Another sign of improvement in seniors: their relationships with others.

“They talk to each other.

This morning, Régine chatted for half an hour in Madeleine's room.

She wouldn't have done that in January.

"

Caroline Deligny also evokes the case of another Caroline, in her eighties: “She started baking when at first she didn't even want to participate in the cooking that we all prepare together in the morning.

In fact, she was very anxious.

We find her calmed, more smiling.

She opened up a lot.

He was also made to accept the wearing of a hearing aid.

That day, it is noon, time to set the table for lunch taken together in the large living room.

Seven plates are planned.

“Setting the table is a real exercise from a social and cognitive point of view.

They must listen to themselves, put themselves in their shoes, etc.

“, Warns Caroline Deligny aside.

A beautiful 90-year-old woman with white hair, Régine takes the cutlery out of a drawer.

Caroline, the octogenarian, sets the table.

“A fork is missing.

There is one who will eat with his fingers, ”she jokes.

But in the famous drawer, no other fork.

Régine takes out a spoon.

“But no, there is no soup at noon!

Caroline says to him.

"Ah, is there no soup at noon?"

»Regine resumes.

The only man among the tenants, Jack participates from afar.

Caroline looks at the clock.

" It is quarter past twelve.

Shall we sit down to dinner?

We are better seated!

»She settles in his place.

Then gets up to look for a bottle of rosé that has been opened.

On the table, only two glasses of wine are placed.

“Not everyone drinks it,” she smiles.

One after the other, the guests settle down.

The house tomato salad is served.

Aline enjoys her new home.

“The people are nice.

I like it.

Otherwise I would have left, ”she assures us.

Her daughter confirms: “It's a great big family here.

The team is benevolent and surrounds the inhabitants with attention.

And then I discovered that my mother dances divinely well.

"

For Régine's daughter, “cohabitation allows her to be stimulated during meals and activities.

At the same time, each resident is a tenant: he has an intimate space that belongs to him.

We feel that all is well.

"

The team will equip the house with an elevator.

A kitty is open to everyone
