The National Liberation Front party topped the results of the legislative elections that took place in Algeria last Saturday, with 105 seats out of the 407 seats in the National People's Assembly.
The Algerian News Agency (WAJ) quoted the head of the Independent National Electoral Authority, Mohamed Charfi, as saying that independents won 78 seats for the first time in the country's parliamentary history, while the Movement for a Society for Peace won 64 seats.
Sharafi added that the "National Democratic Rally" won 57 seats, the "Future Party" won 48 seats and the "National Building Movement" forty seats, and newly approved parties attended the parliament, such as the people's vote, which won three seats, while other parties were absent, such as the Algeria Amal Gathering.
Legislative elections were held to choose 407 new deputies in the Algerian National People’s Assembly, “the House of Representatives in Parliament” for a period of five years, with a participation rate of 30.2 percent.
A total of 1,483 lists participated in the elections, including 646 party lists and 837 free candidates' lists.
