A confirmed case was recorded in Hong Kong today (16th). The patient was a seafarer with a variant virus. After arriving in Hong Kong, he has not been on board the ship and has left Hong Kong. There have been no cases of unknown origin in Hong Kong for 11 consecutive days.
The Macao Health Bureau informed the Hong Kong Health Protection Center that an 18-year-old male patient was diagnosed at the end of last year. A confirmed case was recorded today. The patient was a 45-year-old male seaman (No. 11882). He was from Sri Lanka asymptomatic and was positive for the N501Y variant virus strain.
The patient has been on board the ship since arriving in Hong Kong, and has now left Hong Kong, and has not been vaccinated against the new crown.
The Centre for Health Protection received reports from the Macau health authority last night of a suspected case of rejuvenation involving an 18-year-old male patient (No. 7762) belonging to the fourth wave of the Lam Tin Tunnel site group in Tseung Kwan O.
He was diagnosed on December 16 last year, recovered and was discharged from the hospital on the 30th of the same month. He tested negative for the virus on June 13 this year. He entered Macau via the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Port on the same day and was under medical observation on June 15th. If the patient is weakly positive, the antibody test is positive. Close contacts of the case will be sent to the quarantine center. The building where he lives, Huazhen Building, Huafu Village, Pokfulam, will be subject to compulsory testing.
